How it All Began.....

Once upon a time in a beautiful town in the southeast a baby was born. Her name was Mikayla Beth (that’s me!). She was born four days before the Miss Teen America Pageant in the year 2000. Under normal circumstances this baby’s birth would go unnoticed except by her mommy and daddy and the people that loved them, but because my mom is the vice-president of the Miss Teen America pageant, a few more people knew about my arrival.

Like most little girls, I like to play dress up and you would sometimes find me trying on my mom’s tiaras, sashes and high heels. When I was only eighteen months old, the nice lady who makes our beautiful Teen America sashes, made one for me, too. As you can see (photo at left), it was a little bit too big for me because I was still so teeny. So, she made me a new sash that was just my size.

I loved getting all dressed up with the Teen America girls and wear my make believe crown and sash. It was supposed to be just for dress up and fun, but the more I wore it, the more the other mommies wanted their little girls to have one, too. So my mommy said that I could have a pageant of my own and invite other little girls to compete and win their own crown and sashes.

It is really fun when we have pageants. We get to have tea parties and get presents and everything. I hope that you will come and join us next year at the Miss Teeny America Pageant. I can’t wait to meet you.
