Summer Rogers

My name is Summer Rogers and I am so excited and blessed to be your Miss Teen America 2015. My world was changed on June 28th, 2015 as my most unexpected dream came true. I look forward to an amazing year giving back to my community and promoting Miss Teen America.
I am currently a Junior in high school and enjoy participating in a wide range of activities with my school including being the Photography Editor on yearbook staff, Junior Class Treasurer, Honor Student and member of FCA, Orchestra, Basketball and Track teams. My hobbies include reading, creative writing, swimming, giving back to my community and serving others. I plan to graduate high school with honors, attend the University of South Carolina, then dental school at MUSC in Charleston and ultimately become an orthodontist. It is my dream to have my own practice.

As Miss Teen America, I look forward to promoting my platform and my passion of Stroke Awareness and Prevention. This cause is very dear to my heart as my father suffered from a massive stroke at the age of 52, leaving him disabled and unable to communicate. With strokes being the 5th leading cause of death and disability in America and killing twice as many women per year as breast cancer, my goal is to inform as many people as I can about life saving prevention methods and the signs of a stroke, as time is critical in saving a stroke victim’s life. It is my absolute honor to be given this title, allowing me to share my story with not only my community or state, but the nation. I look forward to visiting people of all ages to draw awareness to this very relevant cause.

The month of June 2015 has undoubtedly been the greatest of my life. Before competing in my first national pageant, I went on my first international mission trip to Haiti where I fell in love with the orphans we were serving in the village of Cambry. While on this trip, I was fortunate to receive hands on experience in the dental clinic for the career I wish to pursue. Shortly after arriving home to America, I began competing for Miss Teen America. In the days leading up to Finals, I not only made best friends from all across the nation, I also made so many wonderful memories I will forever cherish.

I am so thankful for the Miss Teen America organization as I was able to accomplish one of my largest dreams the night I was crowned. Hard work and perseverance really do pay off.  None of this would be possible without my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful to Him for blessing me with this title and I cannot wait to see His plan unfold for me.
